The Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a comfortable 125-85 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 6 of their playoff series on April 28, 2023. With the win, the Lakers advance to the second round of the playoffs, where they will face the winner of the Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors series.
The Lakers were led by a dominant performance from their star player, D'Angelo Russell, who poured in 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Russell also added four assists, one steal, and one block in 30 minutes of action.
LeBron James was also impressive for the Lakers, finishing with 22 points, five rebounds, six assists, and one steal in just 31 minutes. James was efficient from the field, shooting 9-of-13 overall and 2-of-5 from 3-point range. Anthony Davis was a force on the glass, pulling down 14 rebounds to go along with 16 points, five assists, and five blocks.
On the other side, the Grizzlies struggled mightily from the field, shooting just 30.2% overall and 31.6% from beyond the arc. Ja Morant, who had been the Grizzlies' best player throughout the series, had a rough night, finishing with just 10 points on 3-of-16 shooting. Santi Aldama was the lone bright spot for Memphis, scoring 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting off the bench.
The Lakers dominated from the opening tip, outscoring the Grizzlies 31-20 in the first quarter and never looking back. They extended their lead to 17 points by halftime and then blew the game wide open with a 33-point third quarter lead.
With the win, the Lakers showed that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. They will face a tough challenge in the second round, no matter if they play against the Warriors or the Kings. The first game will happen on Tuesday.
